Retro Gaming

Ahh, retro games on the iPad. Love it! I wonder if Nintendo will ever bring something to the App Store.

iPad goodness

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

For months I’d been wanting an iPad but couldn’t really justify getting one, but towards the end of last year, I got my hands on one and have since put it through its paces. All I can say is that I wished I’d got one sooner.

It’s been pretty good for travelling, quite handy for backing up pics on the road and I can quite happily spend hours on it playing inane games. Current favourites include Temple Run and F.Godmom from those DOS days gone by.

Yes, it is like a bigger iPhone minus the phone component, but it’s much nicer to read content on a bigger screen. I find myself preferring to catch up on news using Flipboard and Google Currents than browsing from my desktop.

The downside of the thing is that it prevents me from going to bed. Well, technically it gets me in bed sooner, reading and browsing, but I’m far less inclined to fall asleep. It’s amazing how many hours it so effortlessly sucks up. Other than that, the iPad is pretty muy bien.

Digital regression

Tetris for the iPad was 69p today (I know, I’m a big spender) so I figured, ‘Why not?’

I still have my bulky, old Nintendo Gameboy and it still works! The only game I really ever played on it was Tetris. Unfortunately, the iOS Tetris doesn’t have the classic theme tune!! It’d be cool if had a Gameboy classic mode emulating the original.

“Santa” wants me to delve deeper into myself…at the genetic level. I’m expecting diabetes to be right up there along with fatness.

New Tent

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

I’d brought this tent a while ago some months ago but never had the chance to properly pitch it up. I tried to in the living room, but there just wasn’t enough space. According to the instructions, it’s suppose to take 12 minutes to set up but took me about 20 minutes solo.

Temperature temp

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Think my heater might be on the blink. I need the water to be at a constant 26oC  while I’m treating the tank for ich. Noticed that the heating element was still on this morning even though the thermometer read 30oC, the built in thermostat’s suppose to switch it off once the water reaches the defined temperature. To check, I popped in a spare analogue thermometer and put new batteries into the digital one after turning the heater down to 22oC just to be on the safe side. A few hours later, I see the values are different between the analogue and digital one and the heater still on. Now, one analogue read 26oC, the other 29oC and the digital one 31oC, but according to the heater, it still wasn’t 22oC so it just kept heating. I’ve turned the heater to its lowest at 20oC hoping to compensate for it’s lack of sensitivity. Just to be sure of the temp in the tank, I’ve dunked in my watch which has a built-in thermometer so shall see how that goes.

Haven't seen you before

Geek indulgence – Geekdulgence

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

I passed my driving test yesterday (yay!) and decided to reward myself with a nice new timepiece – a Casio Protrek 2000 with all the bells and whistles – atomic sync, solar, altimeter, barometer, compass, sunrise, sunset, oh and of course, it tells the time. Now I just need a mountain to climb…

Yup, the manual really is that thick.

It's not as big I thought it'd be.

Mugged!!

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Ever since I saw pics of the 70-200mm mug on the web, I’ve wanted a lens beverage receptacle.

When I got home this afternoon, I was greeted with a big box on the porch. Jac had sent Kamil and I the coolest gifts ever!! Mindblowingly phenomenal!

On the way to sushi, Randy, Kwok and I torutured Kamil into guessing what the gift was. Oh the joy. Lol.

Now I have something appropriate to drink out of while editing my photos.

Can you spot the mug?

Champion indeed!
