Tumblr – The Repository of Nonsense

Saturday, May 5th, 2012

I have a new Tumblr account primarily for the curation of things I’ve found interesting on the Web. It’s called ‘The Repository of Nonsense‘. From now on, this blog will focus on my own original content.

Yes, I could’ve used Pintrest, but it’s become too mainstream.

GPS Mapping Test

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

This evening, I went in search for a WP plug-in that’ll let me display GPS tracks in my blog posts. I wanted something straightforward where I could just upload a .gpx file within WordPress, like you do with pics and vids, and it’ll automatically be plotted on a map and I could just pop it into a post. It was a taller order than I’d expected.

The best, and no means ideal method I found was the OSM plug-in. It’s a bit tedious to use and involves uploading my .gpx file via FTP, copy and pasting that location into the plug-in, meddle with a few settings and then copying and pasting the code generated into my blog post. Here’s what it came up with below.

The other method is to import the .gpx file into Google Maps and then copying and pasting the HTML from that into the post. I’ve added it below for comparison. I think I’ll opt for the Google method in future, it’s just easier.

The next task is to find something that’ll display a map with the GPS tracks AND plot images taken along the way.

All things gory

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

I discovered this site this evening. Bloody brilliant I say! Click here to see what it is.

Thought this was a rather good article. I like how it referred to flicks like the Saw franchise as “torture porn”, that tickled me. Come to think of it, I have yet to see V, VI and 3D. Actually, I don’t think I’ve even see IV. Having read the plot summary for it, I don’t recall ever watching IV. Hmn… might have to get the boxset, or just dig out the torrents.

I’m really quite fond of fosses. That means waterfalls in Icelandic for those that don’t know. Unlike TLC, I’ll be chasing waterfalls.
