As I Xi It v2.3

The other day, I found a few boxes of stroopwafels which I brought the last time I went through Schipol (in 2009 when returning from Cape Town). They still looked fine, a nice golden brown, caramelly colour and seemed to smell fine too. There were no obvious signs of spoilage that I could see.

This morning I had one of these “vintage” stroopwafels with my coffee and I’ve got to say, it tasted as good if not better than some of the more recent variants! I wonder if perhaps they’re the dutch version of Twinkies.

No problems here

And I’m not talking about raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens or bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. However, I do quite like to find out what are in brown paper packages tied up with string after a quick delve into fleaBay.

I think if I had to list my top three favourite things, they’d be, in no particular order:

1. Money

2. Stroopwafels

3. Travel

Greed, gluttony and sloth. Meh, at least its warm in hell.

They’re my new favourite thing to eat with a mug of tea. First there were 10, now there are 4. They’re of dutch origin, a layer of caramel sandwiched between two layers of thin waffles. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, these would be it!
